This tool will give you an in depth understanding about your Target Audience and helps you define your problem in a concrete manner.
It provides a basis for identifying the needs of the customer and opportunities for the project. It also provides you with an understanding of possible situations arising from the context, behavior concerns and even the aspirations of the user

Step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Download this PDF and print it on A3. You can also draw it out on a paper if you can’t print

Step 2: In the section named Economical Factors, list down:
• The average income of your Target Audience,
• what are the industries or major sources of employment in the area,
• What is the unemployment rate in the area
• List down how the economic trends affect their prices, production or employment.
• What other economic factors are applicable?

Step 3: In the section named Social Factors, list down:
• The population trends affecting the community such as birth rates, family-size, etc.
• Mention if the people you are working with have access to affordable education.
• What health-related issues and trends are present in the community
• What role does the government play in the lives of the community
• What cultural norms and practices are present in the community
• What other social factors are applicable to your beneficiary community?

Step 4: : In the section named Environmental Factors, list down:
• Describe the physical location of the community – What are the climate and topography like
• What sort of disease, pollution or natural disasters affect or might affect the community
• Describe the infrastructure available to the community
• What sort of industrial facilities and commercial areas are present
• What other environmental factors are applicable to your beneficiary community?

Step 5: In the named Livelihood, list down:
• What financial assets do the people you are working with have currently? How stable are these assets?
• What social assets do the people you are working with have currently? How stable are these assets?
• What natural assets do the people you are working with have currently? How stable are these assets?
• What physical assets do the people you are working with have currently? How stable are these assets?
• What human assets do the people you are working with have currently? How stable are these assets?
• What are the other factors under livelihood that are applicable to your beneficiary community?
